Cranking on Memorial Day weekend...

The ToDo list @ the start of the day.  It grew...  ; )

The keys & touch-up paint came in the mail from Texas.

Back onto this stubborn splash shield bolt...

Finally got it!  TaDa!

The tire tub lid. Perfect condition, but that "V" should be semi-gloss black.

We taped it off and shot it later in the day.

New discovery! Notice the two brackets in the center of the photo? That's the headlamp support rod on the passenger side. There should be a bolt connecting the rod to the headlamp support. Grrrr. Looks like the paint shop missed that. Ideally, you'd install these when the hood and/or grille are off.

The driver-side had the bolt (and the lockwasher), but they were barely threaded together. We got that one tightened up.

Speaking of forgetting things... I forgot to add the license plate frames when I installed the plates yesterday. Got that resolved.

Checking the pre-start voltage (12.3 volts) w/the cigarette lighter voltmeter.

We shot the tire tub lid "V" in semi-gloss black and installed it.

Notice the rivets on the "V" appear painted, but they shouldn't be...
Ready?

Bam! We Vaseline'd the rivets prior to painting.  That way the paint wipes right off.

Well, in addition to the above, we also installed the spare tire lid hardware/bolts, spent a bunch of time on the headlight bucket, adjusted the choke on the F.I., tightened up the E-brake, installed the radiator support bracket and F.I. choke hose, greased the inner tie rods, pulled the front/pass. wheel to inspect the wheel cylinder, and finalized the exhaust!  Awesome day!  Getting close to completion...
